Marinated and Fried Fish

This is a main course fish dish for two. It should be served with pickled vegetables, a grain or potato salad, tomato salad, and sauteed mushrooms. Serve with a micro brewery beer or a sweet white wine such as Riesling, Gewurztramminer, or Chardonnay. Dessert should be light, a fresh fruit platter for example.

Ingredients

  • ½ pound of firm white fish
  • 1 tsp spice mix
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • Flour for dusting the fish
  • Olive oil
  • Black pepper

Preparation

  1. Cube the fish. Prepare a marinade by combining the spice mix, salt, cumin, lemon juice, 2 t of olive oil, cayenne pepper. Put the fish cubes into this and marinate for at least one hours.
  2. Dry the fish cubes on paper towels. Dredge in flour. to which black pepper has been ground in. Fry in one inch of olive oil, until the cubes are nicely browned. Drain on paper towels.
