Web Stuff
I've worked with the web since the late 80s: back then, it was called Usenet and the tools had names such as Gopher, Archie, and Veronica. I wrote one of the first books on HTML and taught seminars on HTML for several years. Here's some stuff I've written about web technologies, web tools, help pages, FAQs, tips, tricks, and so on.
- Would you like to know how the Internet works? Did you know the Internet was once based on steam?
- There's also the inside story about the Microsoft and Netscape browser wars.
- Learn how to use an RSS Reader
- Here are my Laws of Computering
- If you're building websites, there's stuff about CSS, an FAQ on SSI, tips for using Homesite, how to use Homesite to convert Word to HTML, a handy color chart, adding Paypal online payment to your site, how to get your site to be listed in search engines, whether to use GIF, JPG, or PNG image formats, how to make money with Google Adsense, and more.
- There's also a bit of info about XML, and of course, the obituary for the dotcom crash.
There's more links at the top of this page. Just click and read.
